Amazingly you have navigated your way to my website. If you got here by googling Ben Adler, than you must let me know how you possibly found me. Considering I am not a liberal columnist, or a microbiologist from Australia, or a fashion designer, you must be wondering, Who am I (of course you know who you are, so more likely you are wondering who is this)? Given the rather troubling amount of people named Ben Adler running about, perhaps a review of the facts would be helpful.
I am a first year PhD student in Biomedical Engineering at Stony Brook University. I completed my undergraduate work here at Stony Brook and then took time off to study in a yeshiva in Far Rockaway NY, Yeshiva B'nei Torah. Despite my protestations to the contrary I ended up returning to Stony Brook for graduate school.
My research interests are largely focused on understanding mechanotransduction and related processes. In particular I have always been curious about the mechanism which links tissue level mechanical information and cellular signaling cascades. Further, are these inputs transient stimuli, or can they lead to any kind of developmental or adaptive change over time. Is there plasticity in biological responses to mechanical information?
My personal interests include the standard diversions and wastes of time. On a slightly more productive and healthy note I also enjoy reading, and halachik reality. Oh yes, and if you haven't noticed by now, sarcasm.
